The Beauty of Both Worlds – Botox and Dermal Fillers

One of the most popular ways to smooth out wrinkles is to use Botox, which temporarily relaxes facial muscles. A quick and minimally painless injection is all it takes to smooth out lines caused by muscle contraction: Horizontal forehead lines, crow's feet, and "angry 11" can all be corrected to achieve a relaxed, well-rested face. Because Botox decreases wrinkles by decreasing motion, deep forehead furrows, tear troughs, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines (vertical creases that run from mouth to chin) won't go away with just Botox alone; for deeper wrinkles, you would need fillers.

Botox – Decreases Wrinkles by Decreasing Motion

There are fewer muscle movements in the upper third of the face, and therefore fewer deeper lines, so Botox is suitable for treatment in these areas. If you have tired eyebrows, Botox can also be used to provide lift and open up your eyes for a more alert appearance. In aesthetic clinics in Singapore, Botox is used to slim the face: It is injected along the angles of the jaw into the muscles used for chewing.

For the lower two-thirds of the face where there are regular facial movements, dermal fillers are better suited as fillers are ideally used for correction and contouring. (Liquid lift is the technique employed when injecting fillers to contour facial features.)

Filler Treatment for Tear Troughs and Lip Augmentation

Tear troughs respond well to Juvederm and Restylane. (Juvederm Volbella is an ideal under eyes treatment.) Juvederm and Restylane injectables are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) gels. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin, and is in its highest concentration in fluids found in joints and the eyes. Once injected, the gels act like inflated cushion and lift up facial structures that have lost their volume and elasticity over time. The cushioning effects of Restylane and Juvederm also make them ideal injectables to plump up the lips and give them a more defined body. Restylane is also used as nose fillers in Singapore.

Cheek Fillers For Sunken Cheeks and Nasolabial Folds

Sagging cheeks and nasolabial folds are best treated with Perlane and Radiesse. Also made of HA particles, Perlane injectables have larger particles and injected deeper into the skin to add volume to recessed areas and smooth out deeper wrinkles. Radiesse, on the other hand, is made with calcium-based microspheres, minerals similar to those found in the bones and teeth. In addition to replenishing lost volume, Radiesse stimulates collagen regeneration so you don't only get immediate effects but also long lasting results. Along with Perlane, Radiesse is ideally used for facial contouring and chin augmentation. Medical clinic Singapore patients also benefit from Radiesse when used for correcting the nose, chin and jowls.

Dermal Fillers for “Marionette Lines”

Marionette lines and nasolabial folds are best corrected by Sculptra. Made with poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra not only corrects volume loss but also provides lifting effects. Because the gels stimulate production of collagen, Sculptra is ideal to use when you want to see gradual and natural-looking effects for longer periods, often up to two years.

Injectables Last Longer with Botox

Injectables can quickly break down with regular muscle contraction so skin care specialists recommend using Botox before injecting dermal fillers. Because Botox decreases motion of these muscles, using it along with injectables can extend the life of dermal fillers as they are slower to break down when applied to relaxed muscles. Even better, because muscles become less prominent with repeated Botox injections, the effectiveness of Botox tends to last longer.
